Technical Consultant

If you enjoy providing a great level of service to users, this could be for you.
Our customers deserve quality support and you would be required to provide this when helping with Microsoft Windows server and desktop-based operating systems. Knowledge of Windows Server 2003 and 2008 would be required, as would experience in Active Directory, with Group Policy experience an advantage. Support of other products is also necessary, as our customers run a variety of packages. These range from Exchange Server; Office; McAfee anti-virus and Symantec backup; to a number of other popular and less common systems.
The vast majority of your work would be software-related, but some hardware troubleshooting could be required. There is also the set up to our customers' requirements of PCs, laptops and servers. The majority of remote support is server-related, although some user-level support is also provided.
Knowledge of networking technologies (LAN and WAN), plus experience in supporting networks (including routers and firewalls) is required.
Whilst the experience outlined above would be ideal, training would be considered.
Support is provided both from our offices in Tring and on-site at our customers. In addition to support, on-site work can include the installation of systems, service packs, software applications etc.
You should be conscientious and methodical, with an attention to detail all being very important.
You should be willing to put the customer first and to go out of your way to ensure the customer is happy. Vantage is fair and by being so we have never lost a customer through poor service. Our customers turn to us for advice, knowing that we can be trusted.
You must be smart and presentable and a non-smoker. A full, clean UK driving licence would be required.
