Woo-hoo, summer’s here. Well it was briefly. We notice with some annoyance that ‘global warming’ now seems to have been changed to ‘climate change’. The British climate doesn’t appear to have warmed much and it’s still wet more often than is appropriate. Unfortunately there seems to be a fair amount of gloom in the media concerning the economy. Well, we want to fight the trend. Think positive thoughts, ignore the doom-mongers and put a smile on your face. Hopefully, most people will use more of a level head than the media pessimists. Running for Your Help
Ten kilometres isn’t far, but two directors from Vantage IT will be running it on behalf of Coeliac UK. On 6th July, Steve and Paul will take part in The British 10K London Run.
Vantage IT provides support and infrastructure services to Coeliac UK, plus family members of Steve and Paul have been affected by coeliac disease - an autoimmune disease where people’s bodies become adversely affected by gluten, a substance found in many of the foods we eat. You may have noticed some food packaging has a wheat ear with a line through it, indicating it is gluten-free food. Steve and Paul would be delighted if you could help Coeliac UK by making a donation on their Justgiving page. Please click this link to see them and their balloons - www.justgiving.com/tarbox. If any pictures are taken during the run before either of them have collapsed from exhaustion, we will put them in a future newsletter. If you know anyone who suffers from coeliac disease, please put them in touch with Coeliac UK who are able to provide help and support. Details can be found at www.coeliac.org.uk. Printer - Copier - Scanner - Fax - Kitchen Sink
Many companies are choosing to use devices that print, copy, scan and fax (we haven’t actually found one that has a kitchen sink yet, but give us time). These range in size from compact all-in-one desktop devices aimed at small offices or home users, to large, floor-standing multifunction units the size of Lithuania. Have you considered the benefits of using one device that prints, scans copies and faxes? Instead of having separate products taking up space and using power, you can have one multifunction unit doing everything. Did you realise that Vantage IT is able to supply, configure and install all-in-one and multifunction devices?. Not all the larger, floor standing units are the size of Lithuania and in fact some of them are surprisingly compact when you consider the many functions they have and the quality of the printing they produce. Just let us know what you want to do and we will suggest the best one for you. To find out how Vantage IT can help, just click here. Broadband on the Move It has been possible for a while now to access the internet on a laptop over mobile networks, but at a cost. Now companies such as Vodafone and T-Mobile are offering fast mobile broadband access at much reduced prices. And some of the speeds are comparable with what you would expect if you use normal broadband in your office.
For instance, Vodafone offers a small device that plugs into a laptop giving high speed mobile broadband access for only £25 per month. Most users will find the 5GB usage per month ample for standard internet access and to send and receive emails. If you start streaming your favourite TV programme however, higher bills can be expected!
As with all broadband offerings, it should be remembered that the quoted speeds (in this case up to 7.2Mb/s) are often only possible when standing within a few feet of a mobile mast with a following wind providing assistance. Even so, speeds of up to 3.6 Mb/s are frequently possible, which is as good as, or even better than many fixed broadband speeds. For more information about mobile broadband, please contact us. The Entertaining Bit Birds can be a little annoying when they leave small gifts on your vehicle, so we were pleased to see this car found a way to stop it (animal lovers may not want to watch!) You may have seen this before, but it’s worth repeating - please click here. Please note that Vantage IT cannot be held responsible for content on third party web sites. |
